Red Hook Boaters is trying to encourage New Yorkers to get out of their comfort zone and start exploring the waterbodies around them and thus allowing them to destress and rejuvenate. Brooklyn’s aquatic ecosystem is definitely not in a great shape lately and Red Hook Boaters is just trying its level best to breathe some life back into it.

While you’re waiting for your turn to kayak, you can pitch in and help pick up trash from the beach (Once you reach the Louis J. Valentino Jr. Park and Pier, you will be provided with trash bags and gloves). Then, when it’s your turn to paddle, you can enjoy a peaceful 15-20 minutes in RHB’s protected cove.

The Downtown Boathouse is the perfect place to enjoy a summer day in New York City. With free kayaking on weekends and holidays, it’s a great way to get out on the water and enjoy the city sights. The views of the skyline from the water are unbeatable, and kayaking is a great workout. The Downtown Boathouse offers free kayaking at two locations: Pier 26 and Governors Island. Just sign a waiver, put on a life jacket, and you’re good to go. You can paddle around for 20 minutes at a time, or longer if there’s no one waiting. The best time to go is on weekends and holidays from 10am to 3pm at Pier 26. So, grab a friend and head on down to the Boathouse for some fun in the sun.

    Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse

Looking for something fun to do in the summer? Why not try kayaking in Brooklyn Bridge Park? Through August, you can take a kayak out for twenty minutes on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Pier 2. Just be sure to register in advance. And if you get tired of paddling, you can always enjoy the views of Manhattan from the comfort of your kayak. Trust us, it’s worth it. There’s nothing quite like being out on the water on a beautiful summer day.

    Manhattan Community Boathouse

Looking for something fun and different to do in Manhattan? Why not head out to the Hudson River for a chance to enjoy some time on the water. The Manhattan Community Boathouse offers kayaking sessions for all levels of experience, from beginners to experts. And the best part is that it’s absolutely free! Just be sure to make a reservation in advance and wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet. Trust me, you’re going to get wet! But it’s all part of the fun. So come on down to the boathouse and enjoy a unique experience in the heart of New York City. If you’re feeling generous, you can also volunteer your time or make a donation to become a member of the Boathouse community. So come on down and enjoy the fun!

    Kayak Staten Island

Looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but don’t want to leave the five boroughs? Then Staten Island is the place for you! On Sundays, you can kayak for free with KSI. Just hop on one of their Sit-on-Top kayaks at their new location on 850 Page Avenue and you’re good to go! You can paddle around the bay for 15 minutes at a time, and if you want to go again, just get back in line. Don’t allow the giant waves to scare you away because there will be seasoned kayakers in the water to keep you safe from all eventualities.
